Scent Stories
A selection of stories from our best selling candles.
The smell of home
A Real Turf Fire
A smell loved across Ireland. It speaks of home, safety and sanctuary. A candle to light when you want to feel like you are home, even if you are far away. The candle will transport you back to a cottage on the West of Ireland with your feet up, wrapped in a warm blanket. The ultimate homely candle.
Out of all our scents, this is the one that really strikes a cord with people. The amount of people that tell us of memories that had completely forgotten until they smelt this candle. How lovely is that?
The smell of wild forgotten lands on the edge of the Atlantic
Wild Achill Island
Achill Island is a place of raw beauty, ancient history and some of the best pints of Guinness in Ireland. Our trips there are always ruled by the weather - some glorious and some quite frightening. My enduring memory is always this photo. Standing there looking out towards Clare Island and the senses filling with the sights and smells of the Wild Atlantic.
The smell of Donegal road trips
Donegal Wild Flowers
One of our most popular scents! A scent inspired by a trip we took to Donegal in the camper van. We happily got lost in the back roads in West Donegal. The windows were down, the sun was shining and the wind blew in with a scent that almost took our breath away. We pulled over and just drunk it in….
The smell of ceremony and sanctuary
Midnight Mass
This scent has two stories. One starts from my memories as a kid sitting at midnight Mass on Christmas Eve with a sense of wonder and excitement as the frankincense smoke drifted up into the rafters. The other story is one from Tibet! Having spent time there, Michael has incredible memories of sitting in a cave, high on the Tibetan plateau surrounded by burning incense….
The smell of blue skies & happiness
Irish Gorse
The Fields behind our home are covered in gorse. An unusual shrub that paints the landscape yellow in late Spring with its gorgeous flowers and smells strangely of coconut. That very scent transports me back to my childhood on the beach with my folks. The smell of coconut scented sunscreen filled my senses then and reminded me of sunshine and happiness!
