Burning Your Candle
How to Burn a Candle Perfectly
Tips and Tricks
The first time you burn your candle, it's really important to keep it lit until the entire surface is liquid. This will help the candle burn down smoothly without residual wax sticking to the inside of the container (tunnelling). Each time thereafter, do the same, keep it lit until the whole surface is liquid. If you burn your candle for approx 3 hours at the time and trim your wick to 1/4″ that will keep you right.
How to put out a candle correctly (yup, that’s a thing)
Tips and Tricks
We would recommend using a snuffer to extinguish your candle, by starving the flame of oxygen the flame will go out. This helps to keep the wick intact and won’t damage it. If you don’t have one, blow it out very gently and put the lid on to contain the smoke.
If you blow too hard, you can push the wick over and into the wax. Once cooled, check to see if some fragments of the wick have fallen onto the candle’s surface, remove these.
Candle Safety
Never leave a candle unattended and keep out of reach of kids and pets. Always leave at least 10 cm between candles. Do not burn near anything that can catch fire. Trim the wick to about 5mm before lighting each time and remove any debris from the candle top. Always extinguish the candle after each use and do not relight when the level of wax is less than 10mm. If you notice the candle flame moving from side to side and there is no breeze. Extinguish the candle and allow it to cool - then trim the wick to 5mm before re-lighting.
